Japanese-American Nisei soldier Europe

A Japanese-American Nisei soldier befriends a girl in liberated Europe.

It is perhaps little known that Japanese-American Nisei soldiers fought for the Allies during the Second World War. Among the achievements they freed survivors of Dachau.

This photo is delightful subject matter in its own way, regardless of place or time. Many war or post-war photos are poignant. But this spontaneous photo of John Murakami and a girl is hopeful and shows the best of what humanity can do, no matter the circumstances of their chance meeting.
